Big updates have come to the user interface of GA4! Updates include new navigation, new reports and report customization. These updates are already available in the GA4 demo account and will soon appear on your assets. In this article, I will break down these updates piece by piece. First, you should notice that the left navigation section is now structured as a multi-navigation setup with a main navigation (which groups reports and features by section) and an additional navigation panel (which slides out for each of the main navigation sections). New grouped sections Reports - a set of all reports that were previously in the "Lifecycle" and "Custom Reports" sections. Tracking – formerly known as “Analysis”.
This renamed feature now appears in the main menu as "Tracking". Advertising is NEW! This C Level Executive List is a new section and contains some brand new reports for GA4 (which previously existed in Universal Analytics). See more details below. Configuration is a new section and combines (already existing) functions that are more related to the administrative structure (but not to the admin section). These are the functions: Events (table of events) Conversions The audience User properties DebugView This section is generally more advanced, and you probably won't spend too much time here unless you're setting up things like conversions and custom definitions, or fixing your bugs.
This section is generally more advanced You probably won't spend too much time here Advertising In the new "Ads" section, you'll find new attribution reports. These reports originate from Universal Analytics, many of which were previously available there. The section begins with the Advertising snapshot report, which has several widgets detailing things like channels that lead to conversions, conversion paths, and different attribution models. You'll also see more data about your ad if you're integrated, or a call to action to "Get started with advertising." It's interesting that Google has specifically named advertising as a top-level section here and indicates the direction they're going with an emphasis on their attribution marketing features related to ad integration.
